Wedding in the Maldives

It's been almost 3 months since Jacqueline and Peter's intimate wedding on the Maldives island, but I still daydream about it on most days. There's no quick, easy way to get to the Maldives from San Francisco. We flew to Hong Kong, then Singapore, then Male, which took about 22 hours, not including transit time. Finally, from Male, we took a 45 minute ride on a sea plane to arrive to paradise. Let me just say for the record though, that yes, it was well worth every bit of that travel time to arrive to a sea that looked like this:

We spent the first few days getting settled in and acquainted with the island that our resort, Conrad, resided on. We met with the photographer, confirmed on the flowers, and scoped out the spaces. Since it rained sporadically throughout the day, we had to come up with a Plan B for their outdoor ceremony. Fortunately for this beautiful couple, the weather cleared up just for them on 11.12.13, and they exchanged their wedding vows underneath the glorious sunshine and in front of their closest families.

Shoes are almost always optional when you're having an island wedding! :)

Their luncheon reception was at Ithaa, the famous underwater restaurant at Conrad Maldives. It was so fun to dine and wine while being surrounded by the beautiful creatures of the sea.

Maldives is one of the most popular destination for honeymoons, and for good reasons. The overwater bungalows are not only spacious and luxurious, but it gives you an unobstructed view of the idyllic ocean. There are plenty of water activities, starting with the snorkeling right outside your deck, where you can enjoy beautiful coral reefs just steps away. You can also choose to do nothing at all, and soak in your outdoor tub with a glass of wine in your hand. It's the perfect location to relax with your new spouse after a wedding, with little to no interruptions.

Congratulations to Jacqueline and Peter, on their 11.12.13 wedding!
